This paints a picture of our priorities: what are we out to preserve? Our nation's safety is most certainly a high priority. War is necessary, or we would not exist.
But are we willing to conserve the very freedoms and possessions that our young men have sacrificed their lives to allow?
What are we doing with their sacrifice?
Wendell Berry is an phenomenal author. I recommend any of his books, though I have only gotten around to reading a couple of them.
Two of my professors, Dr. Bonzo and Dr. Stevens, wrote a book about Wendell Berry; a reader's guide. These men are incredible sons of God, professors, fathers, and authors. Do them a favor and buy the book. I promise it will do you a favor, too.
